lisa mckechnie

Founder/Singing Teacher

Lisa’s love of performing began at just 4 years old, when she represented her country in a GMTV talent competition, which resulted in a contract with Model Team Scotland. Lisa continued to perform at any given opportunity and was lucky enough to Land the role of ‘Ngana’ in South Pacific in 2001. Aged 14, she sang at Hampden Stadiums ‘Live & Loud’ to an audience of 32,000 (alongside artists such as Daniel Beddingfiend, Blue and Rachel Stevens).

 

Aged 18, Lisa decided to embark upon a career in Musical Theatre and studied at the University of West Of Scotland, gaining a BA in Musical Theatre. Whilst training, she was fortunate enough to play the role of ‘Kim’ in the Scottish premiere of Boy George’s Taboo, The Musical.  

 

Lisa has been a member of ‘SoulNation’ Gospel Choir, for almost a decade. Alongside the choir, she has performed with Deacon Blue at the Hydro, at STV Children’s appeal, Murrayfield Stadium, The Pavillion Theatre, The Theatre Royale, The Kings Theatre(Edinburgh), BBC The Nine, The Edinburgh Fringe (Gilded balloon), Clyde Auditorium and and provided BV’s for Kerry Ellis!  

 

Lisa has featured in various Pantomimes with Insideout Productions. She frequently appears with the same company as a vocalist in ‘Broadway In The Bar’ and ‘Divas Unleashed’. Her most recent jobs include , Playing the Fairy in ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ in conjunction with Hamilton Accies football club and GKPA and featuring as a vocalist as part of a flashmob for hit TV series ‘Outlander’ for their season 6 launch.  In 2023, Lisa has been enjoying being a part of 'The Journey Back' tour that launched in SEC's Armadillo in February.

 

Lisa has a passion for teaching and has gained expertise in this area, over the last 10 years. She is particularly interested in watching her students confidence grow, as they learn to express themselves through the art of performance. Lisa was delighted to receive an invitation to No.10 Downing Street, after winning STV’s Young Community Entrepreneur of The Year’ in 2013, for her work with the students at Fever Pitch Academy.
